Cape Town - A 50-year-old pilot died in a light aircraft crash north of Cape Town on Saturday, said the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Western Cape police.
The "Bushbaby" flew from Fisante Kraal airfield to Morning Star airfield with only the pilot on board, said CAA duty officer Ishmael Mokoena.
The plane landed at Morning Star and took off again successfully with no problems, he said.
"While executing a turn, the aircraft spun back to the ground and crashed. The pilot was fatally injured."
The microlight pilot was a 50-year-old man from Durbanville said police spokesperson inspector Bernadine Steyn.
The crash took place at 11.20 near the N7 near Philadelphia.
An inquest docket has been opened.
