Robbers steal wedding ring

Johannesburg - A family of four was robbed of R7 000 in cash and personal items valued at R5 000 by three armed men who broke into their house in Burgersfort, Mpumalanga police said on Friday.
The men apparently held the family hostage just after they had arrived home on Thursday evening, Superintendent Mtsholi Bhembe said.
"When the 47-year-old man arrived home with his wife and two children, he went to check his birds in the yard and it was while there that three men approached him," he said.
"They then forced him into the house and demanded keys to his safe. They took the money, his wedding band and other valuables."
Bhembe said the men locked the family in a bathroom before fleeing the scene.
"Neighbours called police and a cartridge was found at the scene although no shots were fired there."
Police also recovered a rifle and pistol in a field near the man's house.
"There is a possibility that the men threw the guns there when they were fleeing from the scene."
No arrests have been made and police are investigating.
