East LOndon - Five children died in a fire after a lightning bolt struck their rondavel in Tebe village near Ngcobo in the Eastern Cape, the SABC reported on Sunday.

The children - three of them from the same family - were burnt to death.

Officials of the Chris Hani district municipality have offered to pay funeral costs.

The date of the funeral has not been set.
