Johannesburg - Three men were arrested while trying to rob an ATM in Hillbrow, Johannesburg police said on Sunday.

Director Govindsamy Mariemuthoo said: "The three suspects, in their early twenties, were already inside the ATM when they were arrested."

Police were notified of the break-in after the ATM alarm was triggered.

The incident took place about 17:15 on the corner of Twist and Pretoria Streets in Hillbrow.

"They face charges of housebreaking off business premises," said Mariemuthoo.

The men are due to appear in court soon.
