Johannesburg - A 29-year-old man was arrested in Pretoria on a charge of murdering his girlfriend's mother, said North Rand police on Monday.

Superintendent Eugene Opperman said that the man had accused his girlfriend's mother of "interfering in his relationship with her daughter" before shooting her at her home in Ivory Park on Thursday night.

"Investigations led police to an address in Olievenhoutbosch near Pretoria where the man was found hiding under his bed," said Opperman.

The man, who was arrested on Saturday, was due to appear in Tembisa magistrate's court on Tuesday, said Opperman.
