Grahamstown - A traditional healer landed up under police guard in hospital when his penis inexplicably started bleeding after he allegedly raped a woman at his home in Alice, said Grahamstown police on Monday.

Captain Mali Govender said the 47-year-old man raped the 22-year-old woman on Saturday during a "healing process".

"The healer allegedly asked that the victim accompany him alone to his house where he would start with the healing process," said Govender.

Both getting medical attention

He apparently told the woman to lie down on a blanket on the floor, smeared "medicine" over her face and upper body, then allegedly raped her at knife point.

Afterwards, he realised his penis was bleeding and was taken to hospital.

The woman also received medical attention.
