Johannesburg - The case against South Africa's "Houdini," Annanias Mathe, was on Friday postponed in the Johannesburg magistrate's court.
The limping Mathe, dressed in a cream shirt and grey pants, entered the court flanked by nine policemen armed with R4 rifles.
Mathe will again appear on March 30.
He faces at least 50 charges including murder, attempted murder, hijacking, rape and armed robbery.
State prosecutor Vivian Hawkins requested that the case be postponed for further investigation.
She told that court that as the accused escaped the case became more complex and more cases were being investigated.
An attorney only known as Moosa told that court he had been approached by the Legal Aid Board to represent Mathe. Mathe accepted Moosa as his attorney.
Inside the court Mathe managed a smile when he spoke to the investigating officer, Captain Arnold Boonstra.
