Polokwane - Ten illegal aliens have been caught teaching at private schools in Limpopo and arrested, said police on Thursday.

The principals of North Crest Academy High School and Hebron High School in Mokopane, near Polokwane, also were arrested - for employing them, said superintendent Malesela Ledwaba.

He said police arrested the 12 on Wednesday in a joint operation with home affairs officials.

Seven of the teachers were arrested at North Crest Academy and the other three at Hebron High.

Admission-of-guilt fine

The aliens were thought to be from Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Ledwaba said they were in custody in police-station holding cells, but would be deported soon.

He said the principal of Hebron High was released after paying a R3 000 admission-of-guilt fine.

The North Crest Academy principal was released on bail of R2 000 and was due to appear in court on March 6.
