Johannesburg - Police are investigating a case of indecent assault perpetrated by a man who wrote in an MWEB blog that he masturbated his 21-year-old disabled son.
The police unit probing domestic violence, child abuse and sexual offences in Sophiatown is looking into the case, police have confirmed.
The case was reported by another blogger, who went under the name of Grass widow.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she reported the case because she wanted to help the man, who used the name Fayzal, as well as his son.
"I did not think in my wildest dreams that something like this could happen, be advertised and that it could be right."
"Everyone talked about it but no one did anything."
Fayzal said in his blog entry, that has now been removed due to complaints, that he masturbated his son as he wanted to see to all of his needs.
He said his son could not speak, but that he "knew" his son had the same sexual needs as other teenagers during puberty.
The woman who reported the case said she felt Fayzal needed help.
"He thinks he is doing the child a favour."
She said she did not want harm to come to him, but that he needed some kind of help, even if it was via the courts.
The case was reported on February 10.
MWEB is owned by Naspers, the parent company of News24.
