Pretoria - A 38-year-old man who was arrested during the police search for Sheldean Human, has appeared in the Pretoria magistrate's court.

The man, whose name may be released only once he has entered a plea in court, is appearing on 27 unrelated charges of indecent assault on 11-and 12-year-old girls, all of whom live in Pretoria West.

Captain Julia Claasen said they were awaiting a forensic report to see if the man also could be linked to seven-year-old Sheldean's disappearance from her house in Pretoria Gardens on February 18.

His handcuffs were removed just before he stepped up to the dock. The case was postponed until next month.
