Yengeni's son hijacked
17/03/2007 11:31 - (SA)
Cape Town - Former MP Tony Yengeni's son Mandla was hijacked in Nyanga, outside Cape Town, on Friday night.
Western Cape police Inspector Bernadine Steyn told Sapa she was not allowed to confirm that the victim was Yengeni junior, saying only that a 23-year old man from Milnerton and two male friends were on their way to visit a house in Hazeldean, Nyanga, when they were hijacked.
SABC radio news, however, reported one of the hijack victims was Mandla Yengeni, son of the former ANC MP.
A silver Mercedes Benz with four or five occupants stopped in front Yengeni and his friends and approached the victims, pointing firearms at them.
At gunpoint they stole a black VW Golf and sped off. No shots were fired and nobody was injured.
The stolen vehicle was recovered shortly afterwards in Nyanga by police, who are still investigating.
