24/03/2007 11:48 - (SA)
Johannesburg - A Johannesburg metro police officer was arrested for allegedly accepting a R100 bribe from a motorist in Fourways on Friday.
Metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the officer was part of a group conducting a roadblock on William Nicol Drive.
He stopped a motorist who was driving while talking on a cellphone.
Instead of fining the motorist R500, the officer allegedly accepted a R100 bribe.
The officer was arrested immediately by his colleagues and charged with corruption at the Douglasdale police station.
"He will also appear before a disciplinary hearing where he will be dismissed," said Minnaar.
