Johannesburg - A Limpopo farmer accused of shooting dead a Zimbabwean worker he claimed to have mistaken for a baboon has been found guilty of murder and four counts of attempted murder, the SABC reported on Thursday.

Judgment was handed down in the Pretoria High Court, sitting in Polokwane.

The court heard that Jewell Crossberg shot and killed Jealous Dube on a farm in Musina in 2004 and shot at four other employees whom he had accused them of laziness.

Judge Ronnie Boshielo dismissed Crossberg's claim that he fired shots to scare off a troop of baboons terrorising his farm.

Sentencing was underway on Thursday.
