Johannesburg - Two men, one of them a Johannesburg metro police officer, were arrested when they were found in a hijacked goods truck in Gauteng on Thursday, said Vaal Rand police.
Captain William Mcera said the truck, carrying canned foods, was hijacked in Mpumalanga by three men on Wednesday morning.
The police flying squad located the truck, which had a tracking device, along the old Vereeniging road in De Deur, south of Johannesburg, on Thursday morning with three men in it.
Four cellphones seized
"While trying to flee from the scene, one of the men was shot in the leg. A second man also was arrested," said Mcera.
He said one of the arrested men was believed to be a member of Johannesburg metro police.
Four cellphones were seized and the truck was impounded.
Both men are facing a stolen vehicle charge.
"The third man is still to be caught," said Mcera.
