Women attack man at car-crash
15/04/2007 16:15 - (SA)
Durban - Paramedics had to stop a furious mother and daughter assaulting a man after the car in which he was a passenger collided with theirs in Durban on Saturday night.
ER24 spokesperson Neil Noble said a VW Polo collided at high speed with the women's Mercedes-Benz travelling in the same direction on the Ruth First (M4 northern) freeway just before midnight on Saturday.
"Both cars spun out of control with one mounting the curb and narrowly avoided going into the oncoming carriageway," said Noble.
"While the paramedics were providing protective parking (blocking the accident with our car to warn other motorists to stay away), one of the women occupants of the Mercedes attacked one of the passengers of the other car with unparalleled ferocity.
'Screaming and spitting with rage'
"She was joined by her mother who was also in the car."
The man they attacked was a passenger in the Polo.
Noble said there was an exchange of words, then the women "clawed, hit and kicked him while screaming and spitting with fury and rage".
Paramedics called the police for help and dragged the women off.
There were no serious injuries.
"It is this type of anti-social behaviour that makes these near-death experiences that much worse," said Noble, adding that nobody deliberately tried to cause accidents.
"Attempting to exact revenge through violence at the roadside is not the answer."
