    • Johannesburg - The home of Gauteng's health MEC, Brian Hlongwa, was robbed and four family members held up on Tuesday night, said police.

    Director Govindsamy Mariemuthoo said on Wednesday: "I can confirm that about 20:30 in the Sandton area four family members were held up and household items were taken.

    "The MEC wasn't at home at the time," he said. Hlongwa is in Germany on an official visit.

    The Democratic Alliance's Gauteng health spokesperson Jack Bloom said the incident was regrettable.

    "I hope that his family will recover from this ordeal that highlights once more how vulnerable we all are to crime."
