Johannesburg - The 31-year-old woman who allegedly set her boyfriend alight after a quarrel over condoms appeared in the Idutywa Magistrate's Court, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.
Lusindiso Sogiba, 40, died of his injuries in East London's St Dominic's hospital two weeks ago after spending three weeks in hospital, said Captain Lingisile Magama.
His girlfriend, Veliswa Manyenyeza allegedly doused him in petrol and set him on fire on February 24, after he argued with her about a brand of condoms he found in her possession.
"He confronted her about a condom type he doesn't use. In the early hours of the morning she poured petrol over him and set him alight," said Magama.
She was arrested on Monday in Gcuwa, near Butterworth, after the public alerted police about her whereabouts.
Manyenyeza appeared in court on Tuesday and was released on R2 000 bail.
