Johannesburg - A 20-year-old man linked to a cash-in-transit heist that took place six weeks ago in Orange Grove has been arrested, Johannesburg metro police said on Thursday.
Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said police and metro officers were acting on a tip-off and arrested the suspect in Katlehong on Wednesday night.
The man was found with an undisclosed amount of American dollars, an American rifle and 55 rounds of ammunitions in his possession.
Minnaar said the man was expected to appear in Johannesburg Magistrate's court on Friday.
During the heist in April, three people were wounded in a shoot-out between police and a gang of armed robbers that began in Orange Grove and ended a few kilometres away in Sydenham following a pursuit.
Four men were arrested after the gang, in several cars, brought a Coin Security van to a standstill by ramming it with a Mercedes-Benz.
