Limpopo to get foreign teachers
11/05/2007 16:59 - (SA)
Johannesburg - The Limpopo education department will bring in maths and science teachers from abroad due to a shortage in the country, SABC news reported on Friday.
Delivering his budget speech at the Lebowakgomo legislature on Friday, Limpopo Education MEC Aron Motsoaledi said if the department did not employ foreign teachers, pupils would spend the whole year without being taught these subjects.
He said the department had advertised 300 maths and science teachers' posts of which only 45 people responded.
Of those only four were qualified to teach these two subjects in grades 10 to 12.
