Hijackings increase in SA Insurers: Hijacking claims soar New hijacking method

Johannesburg - Seven people were arrested when two hijacked vehicles were found at a house in Lenasia early on Sunday, said Vaal Rand police.

Inspector Trudie Wilken said a green Jaguar was hijacked in Parkview in Johannesburg at about 18:15 on Saturday and about two hours later a silver BMW was hijacked in Ridgeway. Nobody was injured in the hijackings.

At about 05:30 on Sunday, police from the Johannesburg dog unit with the help of Tracker officials traced the BMW to a house in Lenasia's Extension 10. The Jaguar was also found there along with a white Toyota Yaris allegedly used in the hijackings.

Two women and five men, aged from 19 to 29, were arrested at the house.

Wilken said they would appear in the Soweto Magistrate's Court on Monday.
