Johannesburg - A total of 15 speeding motorists were arrested over the weekend, Ekurhuleni metro police said on Sunday.
Inspector Jimmy Maboko said the clamp-down on speeding began on Friday evening, between 18:00 and midnight, on Bartlett
Road - a 60km/h zone.
Eight motorists were arrested for reckless driving, one of which was an 18-year-old boy doing 137km/h, the highest speed recorded.
"The boy was driving an Opel Corsa without a license," said Maboko.
On Saturday, between 03:00 and 05:00, police arrested seven drivers along the same road.
The highest speeds during that spell were 134km/h and 132km/h.
The drivers were taken to the Boksburg police station and were jailed, with bail set at R1 000.
They will appear at the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.
