Johannesburg - Police spokesperson Richard Zuma says the 45-year-old woman, who works at Natalspruit in Thokosa and was shot three times after leaving work on Monday, has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a normal ward.
Zuma said: "There has been a dramatic improvement."
The woman was shot early on Monday morning by three men in a white Mazda.
"It was a drive-by shooting," he said.
Zuma said that the police were investigating the possibility that the woman was shot as a result of strike action.
"She wasn't robbed of anything. She still had her handbag and her cellphone," he said.
He said one of the men was known to the woman, but no arrests had been made and the investigation was continuing.
