Kimberley - A 47-year-old woman has been arrested for trafficking dagga worth an estimated R10 000 on the street in Galeshewe, near Kimberley, in the Northern Cape, police said on Friday.
Captain Tony Modise said the woman was arrested when police found the dagga in a plastic bag on her head during a crime prevention operation in Galeshewe on Thursday.
She would appear in Kimberley Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Modise said another 52 people were arrested in the operation for offences ranging from robbery, assault and rape to attempted murder and illegal possession of dagga.
There were also arrests for less serious offences ranging from drinking in public to traffic contraventions. These people had been fined between R300 and R500.
