Durban - Two people were injured when a helicopter crashed in Durban on Friday afternoon, police said.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Muzi Mngomezulu said the helicopter crashed near the N2 highway near Umhlanga.
Netcare spokesperson Chris Botha said the pilot and co-pilot were in a stable condition.
A Red Cross helicopter took one of the men to Umhlanga Hospital while the other was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.
The police's Search and Rescue Unit took the men to safety from the wreckage of the Robinson 44 helicopter.
It is believed that the crash had happened moments after the helicopter took off.
It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, but officials from the Civil Aviation Authority were expected to begin investigating the cause of the crash shortly.
