Pretoria - A police constable and four other people accused of carrying out a heist earlier this month appeared in Pretoria North Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Constable Koena Mashala, 28, Samuel Tlhoaele, 30, Thomas Molapo, 30, Tabane Njakatla, 33, and Shadrack Rammekwane, 44, were remanded to July 3.
Mashala and Njakatla applied for bail on Thursday and will receive the ruling on this date.
The three others did not apply for bail.
The five men are accused of attempted murder, armed robbery and being in possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.
They allegedly attacked a Red Eagles cash-in-transit van at a traffic light on the Medunsa road in Pretoria at 11:45 on June 4.
Crashed into cop's car
After opening fire on the van from a blue Mercedes-Benz, they allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away.
The Mercedes-Benz was later abandoned when the men crashed into a BMW driven by an off-duty police inspector. The policeman and his wife were injured.
Another motorist, aged 46, was shot and critically wounded.
The police constable was arrested hours after the heist, while his four co-accused were arrested two days later at a flat in Pretoria.
At the time of their arrest, police confiscated an undisclosed amount of money.
