Johannesburg - The search is on for a rapist who has been targeting women in the Daveyton area, Johannesburg police said on Wednesday.

Captain Alfred Makana said the man who was terrorising women in Daveyton Extension 2, waited for the women's spouses or partners to leave for work before entering their homes.

"Two women have already opened cases of rape, and another was lucky to have been saved by her son before he raped her."

He said their was no facial description of the man, as he wore a stocking over his face on all three occasions.

Members of the public are urged to come forward with information that may help the police.

Meanwhile, police arrested two men wanted for rape in Daveyton on Tuesday evening.

The men, aged 36 and 39, who have been wanted for two accounts of rape - one in January and the other in June - were arrested at their home.

"They will appear in court shortly," said Makana.
