Cape Town - Two Fidelity guards were robbed by a group of armed men during a cash-in-transit heist in Klapmuts in the Western Cape on Monday, said police.
Captain Randall Stoffels said the guards were ambushed on the R44 heading towards Wellington after a white Mercedes-Benz rammed into the van from the front.
"The security van rolled on to its side and the suspects held the security officials up at gunpoint," said Stoffels.
The robbers then took the moneybags and two 9mm pistols before fleeing in two different vehicles.
The security guards were not injured.
Stoffels said no arrests had been made and that the robbers were still at large.
A case of armed robbery will be investigated.
