Mthatha - Police were questioning two people who may be part of a gang which robbed Fidelity guards of 15 boxes of money in the Eastern Cape on Wednesday night.
Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said the group appeared at a bogus road block in Ngxoki near Engcobo on the R61, wearing uniforms resembling those of the police.
A blue BMW rammed the van from behind, opened the door with a grinder, demanded the guards' guns and told them to remain in the van.
"Fifteen boxes were taken from the cash van, only eight were left," said Fatyela.
Abandoned two cars
The gang fled in a hijacked VW Polo and Nissan bakkie, leaving the BMW behind.
They abandoned the Polo and the Nissan three kilometers away.
Fatyela said the two were arrested on Wednesday night after they were found near the robbery.
He said police had opened a case of armed robbery, attempted murder and car hijacking.
