  • Johannesburg - Two Free State police officers were arrested on Saturday for fraud involving R51 000.

Superintendent Motantsi Makhele said the man and woman were both inspectors aged 35, and were responsible for supply-chain management at the Vierfontein police station.

They were arrested at 08:00 on Saturday by Bloemfontein organised crime unit investigators, he said.

They were accused of working together to defraud the police over the past year.

    The fraud involved maintenance tenders.

The two would appear in the Viljoenskroon Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of fraud and corruption, he said.

    More arrests are expected.
