Hijackers' car found at casino
19/07/2007 17:09  - (SA)

  • Judy Sexwale 'well' after hijack
  • Victim 'begged' not to be shot
  • Hijackers caught in heist
  • Pretoria - Five alleged hijackers and kidnappers have been arrested in Wierdabrug, south-west of the city.

Police spokesperson Katlego Mogale said the men - between the ages of 25 and 30 - allegedly hijacked a white Renault Clio in Valhalla, south of Pretoria on Tuesday.

"It is alleged that the vehicle was hijacked from its owner after she stopped in front of her gate," said Mogale.

After the woman opened the gates and returned to her car, she was forced into the back seat at gunpoint.

The men drove to a nearby shopping complex and let the woman out of the car before driving away.

The car was traced to Atteridgeville where police arrested the men at various residences.

The car, which by this stage had been sold, was later recovered at the Morula Sun Complex in Mabopane.

Mogale said: "The suspects will possibly be linked to other cases of hijacking in the Valhalla area."
