Johannesburg - A 75-year-old man will appear in the King William's Town Magistrate's court for allegedly killing his son, police said on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Captain Thozama Solani said the 37-year-old man was arguing with his mother and cousin because they could not find a knife he had lent them.
He then found the knife and allegedly threatened to stab the two.
Solani said the elderly man heard his wife screaming and went to her aid.
He allegedly shot his son once in the head, killing him instantly.
The man was charged with murder and warned to appear in court on Monday.
She said there was a history of the son abusing his parents whenever he got drunk.
