Cape Town - Bring out the jerseys, brollies and blankets!
Heavy rain, thunderstorms, cold conditions, gale force winds of up to 65km/h and snow lie ahead on Tuesday and the rest of the week for the Western and Northern Cape.
The SA Weather Service warned on Monday that heavy rain and thunderstorms could be expected over the southwestern regions of the Cape.
The stormy weather isn't expected to clear before the weekend.
Very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected in the high lying areas of the Western- and Northern Cape on Tuesday.
There's also a possibility of snow on Tuesday evening on the Cape's southwestern and southern mountain ranges.
Swells of up to six metres will occur between Lambert's Bay and Cape Agulhas.
Weather forecaster Lynette van Schalkwyk said Capetonians could expect the "next big cold front" by Thursday morning.
There'll be very strong winds over the whole province, with the likelihood of heavy showers and possibly snow.
Along the southwestern and southern coastal areas swells of more than five metres can be expected.
Johan Minnie, spokesperson for Cape Town disaster management centre, said they had met on Monday with the various divisions tasked with storms and flooding.
Joggie Scholtz, municipal manager of the Swartland district, says municipalities in their area are also ready, should an emergency arise.
"We're making plastic sheets available to people, especially those in informal areas, in case their roofs leak or the wind blows them off."
The rain is expected to last until Saturday over the entire Western Cape.
It should clear in places on Sunday.
