26/07/2007 00:46 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Six people were wounded, two critically, when five robbers opened fire inside a supermarket in Hercules, Pretoria, police said on Wednesday.
Inspector Paul Ramaloko said five armed men in their 20s entered the Claremont Lucky Seven supermarket at about 19:00 on Wednesday.
The men were in the process of robbing the store when they were disturbed by noises. They then fired random shots into the room, wounding six people.
Of these, four were male customers, one was the owner's wife and the other was a teller.
"Two were critically injured," Ramaloko said.
All six were taken to a local hospital.
By the time police arrived at the scene the gunmen had already run away.
Nothing was taken from the store and no arrests were made, Ramoloko said.
