Port Elizabeth - "Ten to one he would have told his killers to take his car and money and when they were caught, still offered to defend them in court."
Xolani Peace Soha was just that kind of person, according to Nkululeko Nogcantsi, a senior Port Elizabeth attorney.
The body of Soha, a well-known Legal Aid attorney, was found in bushes just outside East London on July 18.
Police spokesperson Mtati Tana said Soha had been shot in the back of the head.
Two men were arrested in Durban later, after they tried to sell Soha's car to two police officials.
The two suspects, aged 21 and 28, are scheduled to be brought to Mdantsane to appear in court.
Soha's colleagues showed their respects at a memorial service at Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Nogcantsi said: "I wonder what was going through his mind during those final moments. He was possibly trying to negotiate with them with a smile on his face."
Senior State prosecutor Clive Killian said it was ironic that the men allegedly responsible for Soha's death would possibly turn to the organisation for which he had worked, to defend them in court.
