Polokwane - A 68-year-old freelance journalist was found dead in his house in Polokwane on Tuesday, Limpopo police said.
Superintendent Ronel Otto said the police found Peter Cassidy dead in his house after his Fiat bakkie was found next to the road to Mankweng outside Polokwane at about 03:00 on Tuesday.
Police traced his address from the registration of the bakkie. When police arrived at his home, nobody opened the door for them.
"Early this morning (Tuesday) police went back to the house and found clear signs of a break-in. His body was found lying on the floor of his bedroom."
Otto said it was not clear how he was killed, saying a post mortem to determine the cause of death would be conducted later this week.
His bakkie had been stolen and abandoned.
"It is not yet clear whether anything was taken from the house," she said.
No arrests have been made.
