Johannesburg - A man believed to be a witness in the mutilation of a 13-year-old boy two weeks ago, was found dead in Phela Village in the North West on Friday, the SABC reported.
Police say the 43-year-old was the last person to see Bahumi Mogorosi before he was found mutilated in an apparent ritual attack in the village outside Rustenburg two weeks ago.
The SABC reported that police and traditional authorities were trying to contain community unrest in the village on Saturday. Residents had blockaded the roads with stones and burning tyres.
Right hand cut off
There would be a community meeting later on Saturday, the SABC said.
Mogorosi, from Phela Village, was found on August 5 with his tongue, private parts and lips removed. His right hand had also been cut off at the elbow.
Mogorosi was looking after his father's cattle when he was attacked.
After the attack he crawled for about 150 metres and was then spotted by two men who came to his assistance.
His bicycle, blood-stained pants and shoes were found about 150 meters from the road.
He was presently in a stable condition in hospital.
