Tourist rescued on CT mountain

Johannesburg - A tourist was rescued by helicopter from Table Mountain in Cape Town after slipping and falling, said the Red Cross Air Mercy Services (AMS) on Saturday.
"The tourist fell between the Plattekloof gorge and the cable car at 12pm today and has suffered head and spinal injuries," said AMS spokesperson Vanessa Horn.
AMS Rescue crew and paramedics flew to the scene where they treated and stabilised her before airlifting her to Groote Schuur hospital in Cape Town.
The victim's friend, who witnessed the fall, was helped down Table Mountain by Netcare 911 paramedics who gave her trauma counselling.
The victim's condition was described as serious but stable.
