Johannesburg - A fourth badly decomposed body of a woman was found in a KwaZulu-Natal sugar cane field on Wednesday, police said.
Superintendent Zandra Hechter said the body of the woman was found in a sugar cane field the Shayamoya township of Umzinto.
Two bodies were found in the same field 50 metres away on Sunday, while another body was discovered in a sugar cane field in the Esperanza area near Umzinto on Monday shortly before midday.
One of the bodies was missing its head, which was later recovered from a dog wandering through Shayamoya with the head in its mouth.
One of the bodies has been identified as that of Nombali Ngcobo from Durban's Inanda area.
The cause of death was not immediately known and police are awaiting the outcome of the post-mortems.
Hechter said police were still not prepared to say that they were dealing with a serial killer and would also not confirm whether all four deaths are linked.
Sapa has learnt that forensics experts were expected to arrive from Pretoria soon.
