Komatipoort - Three men accused of planning to rob an Mpumalanga filling station were nabbed by police and charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
They were not asked to plead when they appeared in the Malalane periodical court on Wednesday and were remanded in custody until September 25 for further investigation.
David Mhlongo, 47, Phillip Moynana, 43, and James Frans Lubisi, 37, were arrested in a shack in Orlando near Komatipoort on Tuesday after police received a tip off.
"Police confiscated a 9mm Norico pistol and 14 bullets inside the shack," said Komatipoort police spokesperson Constable Richard Khumalo on Thursday.
He said police were investigating whether the three men were linked to armed robberies in the area.
