Cape Town - Three Table View residents were robbed of cash after returning home from the bank, Western Cape police said on Wednesday.
The two women and a teenage boy had stopped their car in front of their home on Tuesday afternoon when they were confronted by two armed men, said Senior Superintendent Billy Jones.
The woman in the passenger seat was hit in the face with a pistol when she refused to hand over her wallet. In the process a shot went off, hitting the woman in the driver's seat in the leg.
"The perpetrators took the wallet containing cash to the value of R20 000 and fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla, which was recovered around the corner," said Jones.
The robbers were still at large and police were investigating charges of armed robbery and attempted murder.
Anyone with information about the crime has been asked to call Detective Inspector Kenneth Lombard on 021 521 3308.
