N1 traffic diverted for Gautrain
18/10/2007 11:25 - (SA)
Johannesburg - Traffic on the Ben Schoeman highway will be diverted for 1.2km from October 20 during construction for the Gautrain, the company in charge of the project said on Thursday.
The temporary road would be constructed in the median near the Eeufees Road exit and it would be in place for about nine months, according to a statement issued by the Bombela Concession Company.
During phase one, southbound traffic would first be diverted onto the temporary road. This would allow a reinforced concrete structure to be built beneath the original southbound carriageway.
In the second phase, northbound traffic would be diverted into the median while a similar structure was built underneath the northbound section of the highway.
A map of the diversion is available on the Gautrain website.
