'Stuck' plane closes CT airport
02/11/2007 16:19 - (SA)
Cape Town - Cape Town International Airport has been closed temporarily for incoming and outgoing traffic, Sapa reported on Friday afternoon.
News24 revealed earlier how an airplane "got stuck" on a main runway at the airport, causing extensive delays.
Media spokespeople said the plane got into difficulties at about 14:40 on Friday afternoon, resulting in the temporary closure of the runway.
Airport staff were apparently working hard to clear the runway as soon as possible.
Radio Cape Talk reported that the plane's front wheel malfunctioned and veered off the runway, blocking the airport's only two landing strips.
No injuries were reported.
