Hijackers shoot cop

Johannesburg - A 33-year-old police constable was shot dead in Mabopane during an attempted hijacking, Pretoria police said on Sunday.
Spokesperson Inspector Paul Ramaloko said the constable was attacked in his car by three men at 21:00 on Saturday.
"He came back from work and went to his girlfriend's place because he was still in full uniform. The men approached them and opened fire," Ramaloko said.
The officer died at the scene. His girlfriend was not injured.
Ramaloko said police believed it was an attempted hijacking, although nothing was taken from the man.
