State wins Zuma search case
08/11/2007 11:36 - (SA)
Bloemfontein - Warrants used to search the premises of ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma and his attorney, Michael Hulley, are legal, the Supreme Court of Appeal ruled in Bloemfontein on Thursday.
The court upheld an appeal by the National Director of Public Prosecutions against a Durban High Court order setting aside a total of five search warrants against Zuma and Hulley.
The ruling was not unanimous, but the majority of judges held the warrants were expressed "intelligibly and with certainty". The law under which they were issued required no more.
The minority judgment agreed with the Durban court that the warrants were invalid because they did not intelligibly convey the ambit of the search.
