Johannesburg - Two pilots were injured when an aircraft crashed on a highway near Benoni on Wednesday, Johannesburg paramedics said.
ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said the aircraft hit power cables before crash-landing on the N17 near the Snake Road off-ramp around 15:30.
"Both directions of the highway are closed. Fortunately there were no cars passing by at the time of the accident," he said.
Only the two pilots were in aircraft and were treated on the scene by ER24 and Netcare.
"They sustained moderate injuries and will be transported to nearby hospitals. Aviation authorities will investigate the cause," Vermaak said.
