Brief storm causes major damage

Johannesburg - A brief but violent storm destroyed more than 50 houses and a crèche near Esikhawini in KwaZulu-Natal, the SABC reported on Saturday.
Mamsie Zuma, the owner of the crèche, told the broadcaster that a storm, which only lasted about five minutes on Friday, caused massive damage.
Disaster management teams from Mhlathuze and Uthungulu were in the area offering their help to affected people.
More than 20 houses were destroyed at Eshowe, about a hundred kilometres west of Esikhawini.
Eshowe-area community leader Zee Ntuli told the SABC that the areas of Mamba and Stilo were the hardest hit with roads washed away and electricity disrupted.
A disaster management team waws still assessing the damage to these areas.
