Johannesburg - Two people were killed and three wounded in a shooting in Chartwell near Fourways, said Superintendent Eugene Opperman on Saturday.

An unknown number of men broke into the house on Friday night, waking the family. The men shot at the family before fleeing.

A 52-year-old mother and her 26-year-old son were killed in the shooting.

A man and woman in their thirties and a nineteen-year-old man were wounded. They were admitted to hospital in a serious condition.

Nothing was stolen from the house.

Investigations are continuing into the incident.
