Pietermaritzburg - The man at the centre of the ANC "hoax e-mail" saga, Muziwendoda Kunene, will appear in a Bethlehem court on Tuesday for the murder of Ballito estate agent Lynne Hume.
When Kunene on Monday appeared in the Atteridgeville Magistrate's Court, the court heard that he would be transferred to Bethlehem where he will face charges of kidnapping, murder and two counts of fraud in connection with the disappearance Hume in October.
By Monday neither Hume's family nor the police could confirm whether DNA tests had proved that the body found in Hume's
burnt-out car was hers. Her daughter said the family was not yet ready to release any information relating to the DNA results.
"We cannot release any statement to the media yet," she said. Wife's car
Unconfirmed reports have suggested that police have seized the car used by Kunene's wife, Belinda, which will be examined by forensics for evidence. It is believed the car was also used by Kunene at the time Hume disappeared.
"We cannot confirm that to you at this stage," Free State police spokesperson Mako Mophiring told The Witness.
Kunene was linked to Hume's murder after he was the last person to see her in Ballito in October. Hume's car was captured on surveillance cameras entering Simbiti Estate, where she was to have met with Kunene. Kunene was also seen entering the same premises.
Hume was not seen again and several withdrawals were made from her bank account two hours after she apparently met Kunene.
