257km/h DJ must 'rot in jail' Speedster sets 257km/h 'record'

Johannesburg - The DJ caught doing 257km/h - the highest speed ever recorded in the country - in his silver Audi TT on the N1 north on Sunday, was released on R1 000 bail, Johannesburg Metro police said on Wednesday.

Sbusiso Leope, also known as DJ Sbu, was granted bail after his appearance in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

"I was told at first that he was not going to be released on bail, but was later told otherwise," said Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

Seven motorists, including Leope, were caught speeding along the N1 on Sunday.

Police were unable to confirm when Leope's next court appearance would be.
