Pretoria - "Ag, it was just one or twice," said a 35-year-old father when confronted by his wife and daughter about allegedly raping the 16-year-old.
The girl's mother was testifying in Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Wednesday during her estranged husband's bail application.
The Eersterust father is alleged to have raped his daughter two or three times a week, from the age of three. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The mother said: "When we confronted him about what he had done, my daughter said to him: 'Dad, enough is enough. You're bad, and you've destroyed my life'.
Protest outside court
"She even told him: 'Please, dad, not my brother as well'," said the mother.
About 100 residents from Eersterust protested in front of the court.
They said: "We can't guarantee his safety if he gets bail. We'll follow him to Cape Town, if he's released."
Investigating officer Carina le Roux said there could be violence in Eersterust if the man was freed.
